Project Description

Parker Dann was appointed the planning consultant for the delivery of a major re-modelling of 23 hectares of the University of Sussex campus at Falmer. The proposals, assembled by Chartered Architects ADP, include the redevelopment of existing inappropriate buildings and their replacement with more appropriate buildings that meet the contemporary needs of the University and better respect the setting of the ten Grade I and II* post-war listed buildings on the campus. They also involve significant enhancements to the public realm of the campus through the creation of new pedestrian routes and squares, enhanced landscaping and re-positioned access and parking.

The work involved extensive consultation with Planning and Conservation Officers from Brighton and Hove City Council and Lewes District Council as well as Historic England, co-ordination of a large team of supporting consultants and the preparation and submission of a wide range of supporting material including a comprehensive Environmental Impact Assessment.

Outline planning permission for the masterplan was secured in July 2015 and Parker Dann has been retained to assist with the delivery of detailed elements through subsequent planning application submissions.
