Insightful to work with modular constructors TopHat and their appointed team of architects (AHMM & BBUK) and specialists to deliver a Reserved Matters planning permission for 226 modular homes on the strategic allocation site at Old Malling Farm, Lewes, within the South Downs National Park. 

TopHat use proprietary technology enabling smarter design and ensuring that the quality of their product is traced through every step of the manufacturing process. Our challenge was to gain planning permission for a modular scheme within the context of an approved Design Brief and an outline planning permission that envisaged traditional build for this strategic site on the edge of the historic town of Lewes. 

We advised and delivered a detailed pre-application process under a Planning Performance Agreement and this was fundamental to bringing the Local Planning Authority Officers on board, driving up the quality of the application and achieving success. It was a real pleasure to work with excellent professionals on a scheme that can boast such impressive sustainability credentials, which helped drive a favourable planning balance and strong Officer support at Planning Committee.
