Project Description

Parker Dann secured planning permission for the development of this greenfield site in the South Downs National Park to provide 11 residential units with associated access and parking. We were originally instructed to promote the land for allocation in the emerging Development Plan. After a housing provision figure for the settlement was confirmed, the planning application was assembled with the appointment of a team of consultants to guide the proposals and address matters raised by the South Downs National Park Authority at pre-application consultation stage.

The key issues that needed to be addressed in the proposals included the need for a good quality design that respected the village context and ensuring that landscape and visual impact arising from the scheme was minimised to the satisfaction of the Authority. We also provided an explanation as to why the development was not “major” or “premature” in planning terms.

The development has achieved a “Highly Commended” award from the Sussex Heritage Trust.
