Project Description

Horeham Flat Farm, Chiddingly Road, Horam, East Sussex TN21 0JL, Wealden District Council

Parker Dann secured full planning permission for a new build crematorium for Wealden District Council on agricultural land to the south of Horam, East Sussex. The instruction required initial advice to be provided on the potential of securing the required planning permission and following this a consultant team was assembled to address the key issues associated with the development of the site.

A case on why an Environmental Impact Assessment was not required for the proposed development was assembled and submitted as part of a request for a Screening Opinion and this was subsequently agreed by the Council’s Planning Department alongside extensive pre-application discussions on the scope of the planning application submission and key issues that needed to be addressed. Pre-application consultation was also held with Horam Parish Council, the County highway authority and other key consultees.

The comprehensive planning application submission submitted by Parker Dann provided an extensive case on the need for the development and the suitability of the application site. The submitted scheme also included a masterplan for the entire 12.75 hectare site to address matters including access, parking, landscaping and biodiversity that were also covered within the written submissions of the application.

Planning permission was granted for the development at Planning Committee where Parker Dann presented the planning case to elected members. Parker Dann has subsequently co-ordinated further input from the consultant team to address the conditions attached to the grant of planning permission and has also secured planning permission for an electricity sub-station to serve the development.
