Parker Dann were instructed by the Glynde Estate to advise on the restoration and refurbishment of Stream Cottage a property located within the Estate and in a parlous state of disrepair. Working closely with Eastbourne based Architects John D Clarke and Archaeologist Maggie Henderson who prepared a Heritage Report, plans were prepared to both restore the property and to return many of its architectural features such as its thatched roof which had been lost over time.
The property was also extended to provide additional accommodation. Upon approval of the planning application by Lewes District Council, English Heritage visited the site and decided to list the property Grade 2 which triggered the need to submit a retrospective Listed Building application to regularise the approved works. The Listed Building application was also subsequently approved.
Stream Cottage was awarded a Highly Commended certificate at the Sussex Heritage Awards in July 2015, the judges being particularly impressed by the standard of the restoration works and reinstatement of many of the property’s historic features
