Project Description

Parker Dann has been instructed as the planning consultant to the Rathfinny Estate as part of its high profile project to create a 160 hectare vineyard within the South Downs National Park. The project required extensive pre-application negotiations with the South Downs National Park Authority, the negotiation of a Planning Performance Agreement with the Authority and assembling a team of consultants to support the delivery of the required planning permissions.

Our advice has also included extensive assistance with the preparation of a Business Plan and Estate Masterplan to support the required planning applications, obtaining the necessary Screening Opinion that confirms that an Environmental Impact Assessment was not required for the project and presenting the case for the developments at various planning committee meetings at Parish Council, District Council and National Park Authority level.

Planning permission has been secured for a 1,800 sq m new build contemporary winery, two further winery buildings totalling over 5,000 sq m, a new built Estate Office, refurbishment and extension of an agricultural workers dwelling, refurbishment of derelict barns to provide accommodation for workers and visitors to the Estate and a new Estate access road. In each case, the proposals were accompanied by supporting documents prepared by appropriate consultants and co-ordinated by Parker Dann.
